Movies For Wooroloo fundraiser sadly cancels
Whilst it’s already been a fantastic year for Canning Agricultural, Horticultural & Recreational Society (aka CAHRS) enriching the community, with our venues packed with diverse events, our classes filling in record-breaking time, new social groups announced and the Canning Show winning multiple awards, it is with great sadness we announce the cancellation of the Movies For Wooroloo event.
With 100% of all proceeds raised set to go to the not-for-profit, volunteer-based charity BlazeAid to help communities recover from the recent devastating bushfires, this was a painful decision for our own not-for-profit organisation to make. However, initial ticket sales have sadly been very slow, and a lack of available acts has made it difficult to feel confident in pushing ahead with a line-up that meets the high standards we hoped to achieve.
CAHRS CEO Dianne Begg shared, “The success of this fundraising effort relied upon strong ticket sales, and unfortunately the generous spirit shown by those that did support the event was looking like falling short of covering the costs.”
Our Events Officer Laura Thompson added, “To the artists that offered to donate their time and talents to the cause, including Ladybird Entertainment, DJ Snake Mountain, West Coast Lego User Group and Aj’s Costume Hire, thank you! Our staff and volunteers will go back to the drawing boards to plan an epic fundraiser in the future that offers equal parts entertainment and assistance to those in need.”
All ticket purchasers will be refunded in full soon. However, we encourage people to support BlazeAid direct to help rebuild the affected communities:
