Welcome to CAHRS
The Canning Agricultural, Horticultural & Recreational Society (CAHRS) is a dedicated not-for-profit organisation and community cornerstone, proudly bringing people together in the Canning area since 1909. We were originally brought together to serve the growing needs of the area, supporting the market gardeners, dairymen, and primary producers who fed early Perth.
Now we remain the proud organisers of the iconic, annual Canning Show, and the managers of the Cannington Exhibition Centre & Showgrounds.
We aren’t a branch of the local Council, we are an independent society run by members, for the community. Whether you’re here for a yoga class, a pickleball match, or the Canning Show, you’re supporting a legacy that has been bringing people together for over a century.
We are more than just the home of the Canning Show. Our venue is a vibrant hub for: Hands-on workshops (from yoga, craft and more), pickleball social play & court hire, cultural festivals & expos, concerts & markets, private functions & community meetings. With 4 multipurpose halls, 2 pavilions, and 3 expansive showgrounds, we have the perfect space for every idea!

The Canning Show
The Canning Show is one of WA’s most vibrant community celebrations, bringing together tradition, creativity, and connection. Held annually at the Cannington Exhibition Centre & Showgrounds, it showcases the best of agricultural displays, competitions, live entertainment, food, fireworks, and family fun. With deep roots dating back to 1909, the Canning Show continues to evolve, offering something for everyone while celebrating community spirit, local talent, and the joy of coming together.
