Westfield Carousel School Holidays Workshop

Creativity, Crafts, and Community: CAHRS Hosts School Holiday Workshops at Westfield Carousel

The school holidays got a whole lot more creative recently as the CAHRS team headed to Westfield Carousel for a series of vibrant, hands-on community workshops.

The pop-up space was buzzing with energy as children and families dived into a variety of interactive craft stations designed to spark imagination and teach practical skills.

A Hub of Holiday Creativity

From morning until afternoon, the stations gave local kids the chance to try their hand at a diverse range of activities, including:

  • Salt Dough Station: Where children sculpted and created their very own take-home ornaments.

  • Colouring-In Competition: Spreading the excitement for the upcoming Canning Show with our colouring competition.

  • Fruit Puppet Paper Craft: A big hit with the younger children, blending cutting, pasting, and imaginative play.

  • Introduction to Sewing: A fantastic opportunity for kids to learn the basics of sewing and textile work from experienced mentors.

Beyond the crafting, the workshops provided a wonderful opportunity for the CAHRS team to chat with parents and guardians about the upcoming Canning Show Exhibition. We loved sharing information on how youth can enter their own arts, crafts, and creations into the Show, empowering them to showcase their talents to the broader community.

Powered by Our Amazing Volunteers

An initiative of this scale is only possible thanks to the generosity of our community. CAHRS extends a massive thank you to our phenomenal volunteers: Maxine, Colleen, Eva, Annette, and Ercan. Their time, patience, and enthusiasm ensured every child walked away with a smile and a masterpiece. Quite simply, we couldn’t do it without you!

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Westfield Carousel for providing the space and support to host these sessions, helping us bring agricultural society traditions and contemporary crafts to life in the heart of the community.
