Meeting Jane Scott

Marathon runner, community builder, and Baked Bean connoisseur—get to know our staff member Jane Scott and her deep roots with the Canning Show.

For Jane Scott, joining the Canning Agricultural, Horticultural & Recreational Society wasn’t just a career move; it was a return to her roots. After nearly a year on the team, Jane thrives in the inclusive, flexible, and community-driven environment that defines our workplace. Whether she’s navigating the “fun chaos” of Show season or exploring new opportunities for the society, Jane brings a passion for connection to everything she does.

Outside of the office, Jane is a powerhouse of energy. She has completed two marathons and stays active through golf and fitness to keep her mind and body sharp.

From Show Pony to Show Staff

Jane’s history with the Canning Show goes way back—she has fond memories of riding her pony in the arena years ago (and is currently hunting for the vintage photos to prove it!). These days, her perspective has shifted from the saddle to the sidelines. Her new favourite memories involve watching her son, Lincoln, have an absolute ball at the 2024 and 2025 Shows. Unsurprisingly, thanks to Lincoln’s influence, the animal exhibits remain their “must-see” attraction every year.

The Patch Picks

In her ears: The Life Uncut podcast on her commute.

Dining at: La Sosta or Vin Populi in Freo for “Italian food to die for.”

Escaping to: Her family’s farm in Keysbrook or the sunny warmth of a long summer day.

Jane lives by a piece of advice inspired by Missy Higgins:

Lies will lock you up with truth the only key.

Always speak the truth and don’t be afraid to do so.
